Logan kept his eyes locked on her dark brown eyes, reading the vulnerability and hope in them. And the heat and hunger simmering in their depths made his breath catch. Everything he craved, yearned for in the connection she offered mirrored his desires.

He angled his head and gently tasted the wine they’d shared and something more potent, addictive. Deepening the kiss, he slid his tongue along the seam, parting it to delve inside and drink her in. God. She tasted like a heady mix of sweet sunshine he wished he could bottle and carry with him forever.

And the only thing that mattered was them and this small pocket of time to simply be a woman, a man, discovering each other.

Closing her eyes, she twined her arms around his neck, tangling her tongue with his. An electrical bolt of energy surged through him, rushed into his groin and everything in his brain evaporated.

There was only her. Only him.

Without speaking, they moved in tandem from the kitchen, and he lifted her until her powerful legs wrapped around his waist. Holding her, he released her mouth, nipped her delicious lower, pouty lip. “Your bedroom or mine?”

He could feel the hard points of her nipples against his chest and more lust, desire slammed low. But he didn’t want to rush her. He wanted to do everything right, had to keep his roaring craving for her under control long enough to get them to the bed. Because the first time they were together in every way, he wanted to please her, show her that she could lose control with him.

She raked her fingers through the hair on the back of his neck, grasping the strands, anchoring herself to him. “Yours.”

Something in the way she spoke, the huskiness and desire, brought a surge of emotion into her chest. “Mine it is.”

Carrying her through the living room, he made quick work of getting her upstairs to the bedroom, then slowly he lowered to the ground.

Kissing her, he felt her hands slide down his back, tugging his shirt out of his pants. He mirrored her movements and within seconds nothing separated his bare chest from her perfect one.

He cupped her breasts and she arched into him, moaning. He had to have her but until today, she’d always made the first moves. And he’d become addicted to the idea of possessing her, and of her claiming him too.

As equals. As friends. And as lovers.

“Logan, I want…”

He heard the plea and the demand, the promise, in her voice. “I know,” he said, then found enough brain cells to stop. “I’m clean, but we should play it safe.” If this place didn’t have any condoms, he’d have to hold off going all the way.

She smiled, ghosted her fingers over his lips. “I’m on the pill. Basic protocol for agents in the field.” Trailing her fingers down his bare arm, she linked her hand into his. “And I passed my last physical so we’re good.”

“Thank God,” he said, taking her mouth again, more hunger fueling him than he’d ever thought possible.
